Far removed from Dorothy’s yellow brick road, Sangy’s ‘No Place Like Home’ takes you on an dark inner city journey with sharp lyricism and an acute social observation that can’t be taught. Complimenting the lyrics is an instrumental driven by percussive hits, reverse hi-hats and an eery guitar riff that creeps and weaves making the spaces in-between all the more profound.
The video too reflects the gloomier side of city life as Sangy moves through the ends describing the struggles of the majority, from those grinding, those stuck in a 9-5 and those who live for the boozy weekends. Having said that, ‘There’s no place like home’ and an attentive listener will recognise an undercurrent of love and optimism for the city and it’s wayward ways.
