So, record store day…
I’d been waiting for this for a few weeks as I know its always a pretty special day. I can’t say I’ve ever really understood the logic behind it all really. Surely ‘Record Store Day’ should be a celebration of the music we love and the culture and history of vinyl itself, when in reality on the day all the records are 10 times more expensive and a lot of the stuff you really really want isn’t even available on RSD??? Still baffles me, I'm no Dj or musician either, just a girl having a serious lifelong love affair with music.
The setting for me and this Particular Record Store Day was a sunny Saturday afternoon which is pretty rare for Manchester, especially in April, but we were lucky! The day started quite relaxed really, considering people had been queuing and even camping outside piccadilly records since the wee hours! My focus for the day however was my personal favourite Manchester record store - Eastern Bloc (you can get a damn good cooked breakfast there too!!)
The place was busy, the tunes were rollin, and there was an excitement and certain anticipation in the air for the arrival of Mr Roni Size & KRUST and their evening in-store set….and It was definitely worth the wait!
They Fully gave us all a lesson in late 90’s Jungle and it was all pretty nostalgic to say the least! when Roni Dropped Brown Paper Bag the place went off! It was a pretty historic moment and a trip back to where my love for drum and bass came from, and I was extra happy to be able to capture some of my favourite moments for ya’ll to enjoiiii so please do…..
